Osmic Acid
Specificity: Fat, myelin.
Staining characteristics: Black is positive.
Function: Used as both a stain (primarily for fat or myelin) and a preservative for electron microscopy. "Classic" use when evaluating for fat emboli. Is a strong oxidizing agent.
