General:
Clinical:
- Normal: Oropharynx.
- Abnormal: Septic arthritis, endocarditis.
Resistance: Most strains are sensitive to penicillins and other beta-lactams.
Morphology: Small gram- coccobacilli which resemble Neisseria sp.
Growth characteristics: Fastidious facultative anaerobe which ferments carbohydrates and grows slowly (may take 3 or more days to detect at all).
