Enzyme ImmunoAssay (EIA)
General: By definition, an assay which uses an enzyme bound antibody to detect antigen (which may itself be an antibody), measured by the color change catalyzed by the bound enzyme when an appropriate substrate is added. It uses the same basic principle as an ELISA, and many labs use the terms interchangeably. It is probably more useful to distinguish the variants of such assays as:
